The island

This unique 2.5 acre island is currently being allowed to return to its natural state, to encourage the fauna and animals that call it their home. Depending on the season, you may see turtles nesting, groundhogs bringing up their families, deer, chipmunks, red and grey squirrels, and a myriad of birds.
In each direction there are stunning vistas of the lake, with plentiful tree cover for the main house to give privacy when needed. Little Silver Lake will typically see just half a dozen boats altogether on a holiday weekend. Since the island is at the very end of the road, there is no traffic going by.
Across the island are the main house and outbuildings.
The Main House

This is a three-floor, all-season residence with an open plan kitchen, a dining room that comfortably seats eight and a lounge with a wood stove. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a utility and laundry area, a recreation room and a pool/billiards room with its own wood burning stove.
Outside, the wrap–around deck has a barbecue and a large dining area for al fresco eating.
Kitchen

The kitchen is equipped with enough cutlery, dishes, glasses and pots to cater for groups of up to 30. There is a double sink, 24 feet of counter space, a standard stove, a small microwave and a fridge plus the usual kitchen gadgets. There is an additional fridge downstairs.
Bedrooms
With its 4 double bedrooms (2 with Queen sized bed and 2 with double bunk beds), the cottage sleeps 8 in comfort.
Laundry & Utilities
There is a large washing machine and dryer and a good external drying line.
There is a septic drainage system, which means that dishwashing is done by hand in the traditional manner.
Heating can be provided by the wood stoves if the weather is inclement. There is also a background electrical heater in every room if needed. The many windows and the lakeside breeze provide a natural cooling without the need for air conditioning.
Outside

A large woodshed provides logs for the two wood burning stoves.
There is a workshop and a 20ft x 16ft cabin that can be used for extra sleeping, table tennis, or seminars where the only distraction will be the pine cones that occasionally fall on the roof.
There is a good outhouse for those wishing to further preserve the environmental impact of their visit.
Water is taken from a 450ft well drilled into the granite and is tested regularly. No bottled water is needed.
You will find parking for at least five vehicles in front of the house, and others can be parked on the driveway. The road to the main highway is cleared in winter.
